Khanspur a mountainous town is located in the Galiyat region adjacent to the Ayubia in Abbottabad district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Khanspur is located in such a position that its height is lower than the surrounding Ayubia and Galiyat region. Just like the Thandiani region this place is not much frequented by the tourists as compared to Murree and Nimli Maira( Nathia Gali).
Best way to reach the Khanspur is by going to Abbottabad (gateway to the northern areas) and then through the Nathiagali and Ayubia junction road goes towards the Khanspur town. Taking the route from Abbottabad to Khanspur will take the one through beautiful harno streams, the town of Bagnotar, Ayubia and then lastly the destination of Khanspur. Lovely scenic routes could be observed throughout this journey. An other easy route is that of reaching the destination through the Murree but this route is a bit long along with some rough roads in the mountainous terrain although this route is quite scenic.
Khanspur is a small town. The people of this town and the neighbouring locality are heavily dependent on the tourism throughout the year. A vast majority of the labour force also migrates seasonally to the lowlands like the Federal capital, Punjab and other parts of the KPK to earn their livelihood, specially in the winter months.
Various motels, guest houses are located in this area. A lot of the government guest houses are there some of the which are state life insurance guest house, ptcl guest house, Pakistan post guest house. Some public sector universities like University of Punjab have their research centre as a guest house there.
Best season to visit this tourist spot is in the summer season. As the temperature is mild during the day and cool at night. From early March uptill late November the roads are clear and easy to travel. Once the snow starts falling it stays there uptill the month of February. It is highly recommended that if travelling to this region in the winter months then keeping with you in your conveyance the necessary items of the winter travelling and those relating to this terrain and location that are snow tire chains/anti skid chains, necessary food rations, heating system, emergency lights these things are must even if planning to stay in motel and wanting to explore the region.
