The compassion in my life as I can narrate is the sympathy and empathy towards others. By what they are feeling, what they need and how to cater to other people emotional and psychological issues with keen concern which is natural and unbiased towards anyone.
Starting my day with complete compassion so that I can feel
like what’s that the others are facing and what and how can I be helpful to
them so that they also feel better at the end of day. This day of compassion
was fulfilled by prompt and little actions towards others where I was engaged
through not even through words but also with my actions whenever a situation
arises, through the self-perseverance and gratitude towards others.
Compassion in my opinion is such a quality that it must
transcends all other physical, emotional, psychological attributes that we may
or have been affected with and effecting on others. This is an aspect of our
life where when we adopt it, we even shift our thought process leading to
change in our behavior and actions and see the environment around us whether in
semiotic sense that actually we are conveying to others and they must feel a
more positive attribution from our side. In fact, it’s the reason that we can
become better from ourselves and contribute positive to the people who are
around us make a better community for us to live in.
On my day specifically attributed to the Compassion only for
full day set of activities, actions and even subtle signs that I performed even
when unconsciously through empathy and with consolidation towards those who
needed the solicitude most from the people around them. So first, this day
starts with my own self-reflection and self-realization that what positive
attributes I already do have, what I already share towards others and what cons
that I might be persuading towards others whether unconsciously and what points
do I need to focus on for the betterment.
So it started by following the daily routine after doing
breakfast; I had to rush towards the bus station quickly in order to get to the
university. While on the bus at its peak time of the day for travelers, so
rarely there is any seat available for sitting but I was polite to fellow
passengers and make way for them so they could be comfortable while sitting and
standing and leaving the bus. As arrived in the university I greeted all the
students, staff who faced me and went to library for preparation of group
presentation and after that the lab works and two lectures to be taken. At the
lunch time when the university routine work was almost finished, I headed
towards to a local café to buy myself some lunch. There while standing in line
to pay for the food that I selected an elderly couple who were behind me, I let
them pay first so they could buy it and then head straight towards the railway
station as they would be catching today evening train to visit their relatives.
After lunch I headed towards home but going straight away I
thought it rather a better idea to head towards the local orphanage house and
on its course I also bought some sweets and reached there with amusement. Then
spent a couple of hours with the children, where had time to enjoy some
beautiful moments with the little angels as they also go on with their lives as
it is. The time spent their made it feel privileged as the children’s were also
happy to see somebody who was playing with them and also bought sweets for them
to enjoy. After that I went to buy coffee and provided an extra tip that which
was suitable and also to the super market for my weekly grocery shopping. There
same were the long queue of customers who were eager to pay for their shopping
carts and I gave way to a customer who had their young child along with them as
they were really in rush and so they were really grateful. I think these small
act of kindness are the real things that will make my day absolutely showing
compassion towards others and also making the day of the others upon whom these
kind acts are shown. As it is obvious the acts of compassion are performed by
our side and then felt by the other person side. A two-way communication where
these both sides are benefitted spiritually.
These small acts of compassion are what makes our days in
life beautiful, energetic and full of hope, bringing in us the positive
energies. Near evening time, heading back towards the home, on way, saw a
homeless man by the side of the road. So, immediately went to the cafe shop and
bought some coffee and food for him. He was so thankful and praised me a lot.
Seeing this act of kindness, a passerby from the neighborhood went to the
clothing shop nearby and brought a warm shawl right at that moment and gave it
to the homeless man with a smile and went on their way. His act there made me realize
that these acts of compassion truly are a chain reaction. By helping the needy
we are making example for the people surrounding us to be helpful to each other
and care for the destitute, under-privileged people in our society. It further
made me realized that we may not stop doing these small act of kindness towards
each other. After all this is what makes our society an even better place for
each of us to enjoy this life.
After this full day of compassion in my life towards others,
then I finally headed towards home. And then checked my cell phone for the call
logs and the text messages. There certainly were some missed calls and
unattended text messages from the friends and relatives. Therefore, before
pending them for even further time, I dialed the numbers of my friends and
relatives and respond to their queries, usually which I left on the pending
notice according to the priorities. This was an evening full of joy and laughter’s
which was usually a dull time during the routine matters. It also reprimanded
me that the true friends and the family is what brings joy to our life and make
it a fulfilling experience for us. The one who cares for us we may not neglect
them during the tough times and also take care of them through our words,
actions and our act of kindness towards them. This is not a single phase
process but an ongoing endeavor for us in our life’s to keep this sense of
compassion with us in our entire life. It’s those little precious moments that
we share with our friends, family and relatives that we may call the acts of
compassion. Whether they be face to face or through a distance with online
connections. As in this ever fast and technological advancing societies the
social ties where resolving each other issues that we can is an ever more need
of the time.
It is pertinent to mention here that this day of compassion
could be a starting point for me to carry it forward with me and integrate into
my daily life. As I was spending the normal life before this day of compassion,
but now this day of compassion eventually changed my entire thought process as
within this due course of time I could see everybody and everything around me
through a different lens. Where the world surrounding us and the people within our
society we know are in destitute and where our good deeds needs to be spread
but with the advent of this day which I choose purposely and inculcated it
voluntarily in my life for one day taught me a good length of things which
needs to be vigorously pursued in my life from now onwards. As it was evident
that everybody had their own sort of issues and problems in their routine
matters. But it’s the people with compassion and having empathy in their hearts
towards others who tells us what the life is worth living for. Actually it’s
their routine business to be profound towards others and be ready anytime to
solve their issues. It’s not a must to join any particular cause that which
will enable us to adopt the sympathetic and empathetic passion in us but the
little routine life that we are facing daily also requires our attention in
this due process. Its upon us that how we make a difference in our lives and
make a difference for other lives through good deeds, positive acts of kindness
and good energy for those who are feeling down. It not just depends on helping
others monetarily but through physical help, emotional and psychological
support also helps us to relive the problems of the others. The key to all this
is to adopt this compassion in our lives and its solely depend on ourselves
about how we adopt it and eventually it will make us to present us to others as
a good example by being a role models to others for adopting the same
compassionate lifestyle.
Now coming to the point that how did the others react to my
compassion towards them. Well, it’s a mixed reaction and feelings that I got
during this day of compassion. Honestly, it’s also depend on the situation of
the others that how they are feeling emotionally and psychologically at that
given time. So, it is like that some people regard for what I did for them and
show their honest gratitude towards me by being thankful and praising me for
the deeds that I done for them. This put up a desire in me to keep on carrying
the good work of being compassionate towards others and also put a feeling in
me that those individuals also somehow will be inclined to adopt the force of
compassion within them to an extent that they are willing to do. Similarly,
there were also some instances in which the individuals towards whom I did
compassionate act ether did not notice them or even ignored that what was being
done absolutely for them. It sometimes also was a deliberate act of negligence
on part of some who don’t even bother what act of compassion were done for them
and walk away casually. But it was not a reason for me to stop acting
compassionately. Their carelessness was an attitude or some other reasons that
they ignored or forget to acknowledge what good deeds were granted upon them
during time of stress. But it also makes me encouraged person that there are
those also who are in situation of quite distress and needs some other person
to act compassionately for them and to bring them out from the difficult
situation. So, actually it’s this feeling that make me realize to keep
following this path vigorously and passionately for what I had been doing
compassionately is making a difference for quite a few people.
Finally, it is right to say that, the compassion is feeling
that could be adopted consciously by us when interacting with others specially
when the others are feeling down, or in distress due to psychological, or
mentally stressed out, similarly in dire need of physical help or needed
emotional support from some body. Our subtle act of kindness towards others
during the hard situations is what makes the compassionate feeling alive in us.
It also makes us aware of the environment around us that there are many a
people who are thriving difficultly in the hard situations around us in our own
societies. So if the more people starts living their life compassionately
towards others, by helping out the needy, it would be a quite better world for
all of us.
